SEPILOK ORANGUTAN, SUN BEAR, KINABATANGAN RIVER, GOMANTONG CAVE & SANDAKAN CITY
Embark on a comprehensive 2-day tour to explore the memorial sites near Sandakan city. This immersive itinerary includes visits to iconic locations such as Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Kinabatangan River at Bilit or Sukau Village, Gomantong Cave, Puu Jih Shih, St. Michael’s Church, Agnes Keith House, Central Market, and Sim-Sim Water Village. Delve into the rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking natural wonders of the region throughout this enriching two-day journey.
Day 1 – Commence your day with a meet and transfer service upon your arrival at Sandakan Airport (flight TBA hrs) or from your hotel lobby in Sandakan between 0815 – 0830 hrs. Embark on an overland journey to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you’ll witness the feeding of orphaned orangutans and view an insightful documentary at 1000 hrs.
Following Sepilok, proceed to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Continue your journey for approximately 2 hours to Sukau or Bilit, Kinabatangan. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation equipped with basic facilities and savor a delightful lunch. Enjoy some leisure time before embarking on a captivating boat cruise at 1600 hrs along the Kinabatangan River, offering incredible sightings of proboscis monkeys, various bird species, and other wildlife. Return for dinner and, weather permitting, partake in a memorable night walk experience. Overnight stay at Sukau or Bilit.
Day 2 – Start your day with breakfast. At 0800 hrs, depart from Sukau or Bilit for an overland transfer to Gomantong Cave, renowned as Sabah’s largest bird’s nest cave. After exploring the cave, return to Sandakan. Ascend to Puu Jih Shih, the hilltop Chinese Temple, boasting colorful interior decor and commanding panoramic views.
Then, proceed to a local restaurant for lunch. Post-lunch, visit St. Michael’s Church and the observation pavilion, offering a bird’s eye view of Sandakan, followed by a visit to Agnes Keith House. Continue to the vibrant Central Market, known for its fresh seafood and vibrant local produce. Conclude your journey with a visit to the Sim-Sim Water Village, observing houses built above the water, and occupied by local tribes. Finally, transfer to Sandakan Airport (TBA hrs) or your hotel in Sandakan.

Raincoat, hat/cap, insect repellent, sun lotion, drinking water, extra batteries for the camera, torchlight, leech socks (for jungle trekking), good walking shoes/sandals, and casual wear are recommended.

- All reservations must be completed before the departure date.
- No refund is available for cancellation after the tour has commenced or in respect of any accommodation ground transportation or any other services.
- If you wish to cancel your booking once it has been confirmed, a cancellation charge of 50% of tour fees will be imposed.
- Accommodation: A 100% NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of the total accommodation cost is required to confirm the reservation of all types of accommodation i.e. Chalet, Hotel, or Resort. A fee will be imposed if any amendment, cancellation, or number of persons or rooms reduced is made after the booking is confirmed.
- Changing the date is only available for those tour packages which don’t include a chalet, hotel, or resort on Island once the booking has been confirmed.
- If the number of travelers is an odd number, a single supplement (adult or children) with an additional 70% charge of the adult price is applicable.
- Child Policy:
- The child rate is 70% of the adult rate.
- The child is an individual aged 2 to 10 years old (Proof of birth certificate is required).
- The child rate is applicable when traveling with TWO (2) paying Adults.
- We highly recommend all tour members purchase accident, baggage, and general liability insurance to protect their travel plans.
- The organizer has the sole and absolute discretion to cancel or shorten the duration of any tour in the event of force majeure, hostilities, accident, or other circumstances beyond the control of the organizer which render it necessary in the organizer’s reasonable opinion that such steps be taken. The organizer shall be relieved from all liabilities and obligations resulting therefrom. The organizer assumes no responsibility or liability for any injury, damage, loss, or accident with any services resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, strikes, government regulations, theft, failure of any means, discrepancies, or changes of which it has no control.
